one, two, three…

Yesterday, I was counting my foot steps on the way to the post office. 754 one way, 723 on the way back. Okay, I admit it’s a little annoying to count .. (maybe buying a podometer is a good idea). I then asked myself how many steps should I make every day in order to be in good shape ?

Well… some say the answer is 10.000 steps per day.

In what seems to be a serious revue Dr. Catrine Tudor-Locke classifies our daily steps per day as follow:

  • <5000 : you are having a sedentary lifestyle, be careful
  • 5000-7500 : low activity, no sport, can do much better
  • 7500-10000 : somewhat actif, please do some more effort
  • 10000-12500 : active. good !
  • >12500 : highly active (is that good ?)

I recently read the quite extraordinary book eat to live. The author, Dr Joel Fuhrman, describes our nutritional habits in a rather frightening way. He says our food consumption patterns a recipe for suicide. But the book is not all that bad, quite the contrary. He explains how better eating can make us lose weight naturally, live longer, prevent heart disease etc…Of course, he reminds us that being active is very important too. So … 10.000 steps per day to be active. All of you readers, be good and healthy ! Start counting your steps .. 1..2..3..
